Heart Smart Hibiscus Tea

While enjoying the final splendor of fall foliage, why not try a cup of hibiscus tea to warm you on a chilly day? Hibiscus tea has a vivid, red color and a benefit that can be a health advantage. Hibiscus tea has been known to lower blood pressure.

Buy tea varieties without caffeine. Studies have stated that caffeine can increase blood pressure, decrease bone density, and can cause nervousness. I like tea without using any sweeteners, as well, to keep my blood glucose levels low.

Hibiscus tea is a festive tea for company and for holiday occasions. Substitute it for coffee. I planted a hibiscus tree in my front yard this past spring and it has been a joy to watch it bloom continuously. Hibiscus trees grow throughout the world in warm and tropical climates. Hibiscus is the national flower of Haiti, South Korea, and Malaysia. It has been a tradition for hibiscus flowers to be worn behind the ears of Hawaiian and Tahitian women.
